Tags are a neat way to describe data, that is, to apply metadata to content. Being fairly free-form and devoid of structure (at least for now), they're easy to apply and don't require any sort of boring setup of categories or hierarchies. I finally switched to tags, so you may still see remnants of the previous category system as I slowly work things out.
